Bourse de Commerce

In the heart of Paris, between historical legacy and contemporary art, is the Bourse de Commerce (The Trade Exchange), a unique museum where past and present coalesce. Since May 2021, it has been home to one of the world’s most significant collections of contemporary art, brought together over decades by the entrepreneur François Pinault.

The varied history of this listed round building with its striking metal dome extends back over five centuries. More recently, it underwent an impressive revitalisation designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando. A concrete cylinder nine metres in height and open at the top, with a diameter of 29 metres, interconnects the exhibition areas and serves as a central exhibition space.

The round structural concept is supported by the durlum GEO open-cell ceiling. This open ceiling in plain anodised and black extends into the foyer and the auditorium, communicating an elegant yet mysterious impression. In a refined manner, the 780m² of open-cell ceiling underscore the prestigious atmosphere of this building without in any way detracting from the visual impact of the exhibits. With sleek, concealed suspension, these elements were integrated into predefined modules consisting of lighting channels.
